Last week, we ordered some fabric from a little boutique here in town. We spent a nice chunk on it but decided it was worth it to get good quality fabric. We had been looking online and had not found anything we really loved except for one fabric. We had found with a fabric by Tanya Whelan called AVA ROSE...and it was only $8-9 a yard. We knew it was very similar to the fabric we found at the boutique here in town but the fabric in the store was called OLIVIA ROSE by New Arrivals Inc. We decided to order the more expensive fabric from the boutique simply for the quality. When we picked it up on Friday I was shocked to find that they were the same fabric (they had left the brand band on the side)! The company (New Arrivals Inc.) sold the cheaper Ava Rose fabric under another name and jacked the price from $8 a yard to $26 a yard! It is by no means the local boutique's fault-they just sell what they have. The company (New Arrivals) had closed already on Friday so I've not been able to reach anyone there. I'm hoping to get ahold of them tomorrow to at least give them a piece of my mind about ethical practices!!! I do love the fabric but it's rediculous that I could've gotten it for alot cheaper!!! Here is a pic of the fabric in question (the blue in the middle) and some of the other fabrics we've picked up.
