snow day

Last night Travis left for Little Rock.  Essie didn't like seeing him leave but she's been okay today.  Everytime the dogs bark she thinks its him coming home and says "daddy!"  It's not been too bad...we are making it.  I didn't sleep well last night at all and was surprised and thrilled to wake up to a text saying that schools were closed due to a snow day.  I had been up at 4am and it was doing nothing really.  So I turned my alarm off and went back to sleep.  Essie woke up around 8 and were were both shocked to see how much snow we had! I took her to the back porch to see the "no".

So she and I have hung out around the house today. Essie's new favorite thing to do is sit/lay/stand on the coffee table.  We've been playing, cleaning, and finishing up projects.  We got to talk to Travis at his lunchhour today.  We sure do miss him!

Before I forget here are the Valentine Cookies we made this weekend...I ended up making about 4 dozen Giant personalized cookies and I made a handful of smaller ones for Essie to snack on.

Friday & Saturday

Friday right as school got out it started to sleet, snow, and freezing rain.  It continued on all night pretty much.  Essie wanted to see the "no" so we went out before it got dark. She didn't want to come inside.

We bribed her with a donut so she decided to come on in...

Then she drug all her babies into the living room and had me lay her blankie down.  She laid them all out, moved them, laid them out again.  She repeated this over and over for hours.

This morning I pulled her table into the living room so she could color.  She really thought that was neat and sat at her table for the longest time.

I've spent 3-4 hours today baking cookies for Valentine orders...by the time I was done my kitchen and I were covered in flour! I'll post a few pics later of the finished cookies!

my lil assistant

Travis and Essie went to the read-aloud lapsit today at the library and then brought me lunch! I love seeing them in the middle of the day! Essie gave baby Cooper some lovin' when his mama brought him up to visit as well.

Then she came back to my classroom to color.  She loved being a big girl and sitting at the desk coloring.  My students were so happy to see her....they drew her a lot of Elmo and Sesame street pictures!

When I got home this evening I asked Essie to assist me in making some Valentine rice krispie treats! She was such a BIG help...

Valentines

Here are a few of my valentine decorations! I have not decorated my table completely yet...mainly because Essie can now climb on the table and I can just foresee my plates broken on the floor.  I've already caught her up on the table tossing the little heart picks out! Oh the joys of a toddler!

Essie has started to wear her valentine's gear.  She has two dresses and the shirt she wore for her pictures.  This dress we bought last year and thought she looked so cute in it.

We had a nice little happy happen to us yesterday.  The lady who runs our local Kindermusik was looking for someone to help her with her technology needs (facebook, website, email, etc.) in exchange for free tuition.  I jumped at the chance and she invited us to our first Kindermusik class last night.  Essie loved it! I am excited about the opportunity! I enjoy that type of stuff and Essie is getting to enjoy some fun kid time for free! She was worn out last night after the class.  I'm really excited that it will give me and Essie something to do while Travis is in Little Rock.

Well during the class they had a "storybook" time where the teacher laid a quilt on the floor so the kids could sit on it and listen.  When we got home today she laid this blanket (that was mine when I was in Kindergarten and it was used every single day in the dramatic play center) out and laid her babies on it!
