Just so darn cute...

I know I'm a little biased but I just think she's so darn cute...we played dress up a few times today. First it was this "50's inspired" sock hop outfit! Her daddy picked this out at a consignment sale awhile back...And then it was this cute chocolate brown & pink get up just for fun. I've been dying to put some babylegs on her...they are still quite big on her but sooo cute! And look at that smile!

Our saturday...

So we had a very busy Saturday today...after a wonderful night of sleep (essie slept 4 and a half hours, got up to feed & went back to sleep for another 4 hours!) we got up early and headed to take the pups for their grooming appointment. It was our first time having all three of them in the backseat. We used the seatbelt harnesses on the dogs and it worked wonders! They didn't even mess with her at all...I'm not even sure she knew they were in the car with her!

The dogs looked soo cute with their new 'dos. Maggie was rivaling Essie with her fab feather bows...you can't see it but they even had rhinestones in them!!! LOVE it! And better yet Maggie got 4 paws from the groomer...4 PAWS! That's the best you can get and she's never done that before! We were so proud of her! :)

After that we went to eat breakfast, ran to walmart, and stopped by the farmer's market! Then we came home, chilled for awhile, fed Essie, and she took a lil nap.
After that, Essie and I worked on putting her clothes away (I've sorta let her laundry pile up) while Travis worked on building a new headboard for our new king size bed (pictures to come later). After lunch we ran to a little shoestore in town because their hairbows were marked half off. So we stocked up on some new bow for E.C. (pictures to come later). Then I actually spent an hour in the kitchen making dinner tonight while she slept in her swing! I cooked up some of that good ole' produce we bought!

mmmm....chicken fried steak, fried potatoes, summer veggies, and watermelon...

And now we're piled up in bed watching her go to town on that paci. Here's a quick video of her trying to get that darn paci back in again. She gets so close to getting it...so momma gives a smidge of help and she's able to finish it on her own!

hospital pics

Before I forget...here is the link to Essie's hospital pics. I cant believe how much she's changed already in just two weeks!

Doctor's Appointment

We had to take Essie to the doctor today. She's only pooped twice all week and I was becoming concerned so I called the doctor's office to see what we needed to do. The nurse said to go ahead and bring her in so we went this afternoon. She weighs 7 pounds 12 ounces so she's gained 8 ounces since her appointment last week! So as soon as we called into the exam room guess what little e-claire does?

Yep...pooped. Of course. Kid hasn't pooed in 3 days and as soon as we get in there lets one go! The doctor went ahead and examined her and even did a little "booty exam" to check things out. That's when she pooed for the second time...all over him. I was mortified! And she was furious! She cried sooo hard! But overall it was a good checkup and he said she's growing just like she's supposed to! Here are a few pics of our doctor's visit today...and a short video of her holding her head up and just being so darn cute!!!

Then we ran to the hospital to visit a friend who had a baby today. It was wierd walking in there with Essie 2 weeks later. It was really wierd seeing the room I was in for 3 days...the lady we were visiting was right across the hall from it & it was empty so I stepped in. It made my tummy hurt a bit to be honest!

After that we went to eat mexican with Sarah & Matthew. Essie did really well for the most part. I'm still a nervous momma when it comes to "handling" her in public...like if she cries, etc. She did get a lil fussy and it was near feeding time so I fed her a bottle there. But as soon as I strapped her back into her carseat she spit-up (of course!). And when we got home and pulled her from her carseat we quickly realized that she had her first MAJOR diaper blowout. Yeah...it was all over her carseat, her dress, her legs...everywhere. We stripped her down and put her in the sink and hosed her off. The funny thing is that she seemed to really like it! She locked those knees out and stood in the sink the whole time! Ha! After that we took a real bath and got into our jammies for the night!

Wedding Dress!

Over at Kelly's Korner, the tour of homes is over but each week there is a new theme to show off different things. This week is wedding dresses! I thought it would be fun to join in and look at old wedding photos for the first time in years! We've been married for almost 6 years...we won a proposal contest from a local radio station (Travis did an amazingly unique proposal that I will post about later). So we won a lot of our wedding things for FREE! One of which was my wedding dress. It was from a local boutique called the Wedding Gallery (love them by the way) and they were really low on dresses in my size. So I got to shop for my wedding dress via catalog....scary! The first dress I picked out wasn't going to be in until a few weeks before the wedding so I was terrified I wouldn't like it once I put it on. So I talked them into letting me order a "backup" dress just in case. That dress came in really quickly so I got to try it on. I fell in love with it immediately. When my first dress came in later I HATED it! So it was a blessing that I had that backup dress and did i mention it was free??? The dress, veil, earrings, shoes, and bracelet were all FREE! So was Travis's tux rental!
My dress was quite "froo-froo" for me. It was big and beaded and heavy! I felt like I was "all boobs" in it but needless to say I loved it! It had beautiful beading all over the bodice that trickled down the skirt and onto the train. It had a cathedral length train (I don't remember just why that was sooo important to me) that detached for the reception. Good thing too because as soon as we left the ceremony Travis stepped on it and ripped it off! Ha! My veil had rhinestones around the trim and I thought it was just gorgeous! Looking back now I wish I had toned down the "bling" a little! If I were to do it now I'd go with a much more simple dress for sure! These pics are not the best quality...they are scanned in. The "professional" photographer we used really sucked it up. We had some friends taking pics for us as well and their pictures were much better but we forgot to take any posed ones with me and Travis at the alter! Ha!

Maggie Simpson

I think essie is starting to rival Maggie Simpson in her love for her paci! She sucks on it just like Maggie does and even sounds like her! When it falls out of her mouth she first cries and then tries very hard to put it back in. We've been trying to catch this on video for a few days and last night we finally got it............

Strollin' with the homies...

We had a very busy Thursday today! Travis came home early from work since the a/c guys were at the house working on fixing our a/c upstairs. It's still not fixed and they have to come back tomorrow and get this...knock a hole in Essie's wall to fix a leak in our main line. Oh yeah...a hole in those gorgeous walls...I'm not a happy girl to say the least! Then I had an appointment at an ENT so we all piled in to go there. We were a lil early so we stopped by Travis' office to show Essie off. We spent well over an hour at the doctor's office (mainly in the waiting room). Then we ran to Tropical Smoothie for some yummy treats. After that we ran by my hair place so Travis could get his hair cut (it was majorlly shaggy!) and of course to show Essie off some more. While he was in there E.C. and I ran next door to a kids clothing store and I bought her the most adorable pink ruffly dress on 60% off. In all we spent 3 and a half hours running errands and what did Essie do the whole time???? Just see below.........
Yep...slept the entire time. We came home and ate supper, watched Big Brother, and headed for our first family stroll around the neighborhood. The dogs were sooooooooo pumped to go for a walk! Essie of course, slept the whole time! I swear the carseat puts that girls smooth to sleep!

2 weeks

Today Essie is 2 weeks old! I can't believe how fast time is flying by and how much she is growing and changing each day! I couldn't believe the difference in her one week and two week pictures! This is what we know about her right now:
  • She is still a very laid back baby...she hardly ever fusses or cries!
  • She loves her soothie paci very much...she tries to put it back in her mouth whenver if falls out!
  • She eats every 3-4 hours and takes around 2.5-3 ounces each time.
  • She kicks her legs and arms while she's awake. She's even locking her knees out so she can stand up.
  • She scoots herself across the floor while on her tummy by pushing with her feet.
  • She is very alert when she's awake and she loves to look at us, the dogs, lights, and the tv.
  • Her belly button fell off this week! Yay!
  • She is holding her head up very well and lifts it each time I try to burp her!
  • Her eyes are getting much more blue and she's "chunking" up quite nicely! :)

She was so happy/cuddly after her morning nap so I took some videos of her. You can tell in these videos that our puppies love her very much!

New Jammies

Is there anything better than putting on a pair of new pajamas? We made a quick run to Target last night to pick up a few things. Essie has hardly any pajamas to wear (she's outgrown her preemie ones and is still too little for 0-3 mos sized ones). So we needed some newborn sized PJ's. I found two cute pair and she got to wear them both last night (after she spit up on the first pair). She was so cuddly and loveable. We also found this great photo book for her...it has bright patterns in it right now but we can add photos of family later. She really enjoyed looking at it! Sarah & Matthew came by and visited/loved on her for awhile as well! Baby Wise seems to be working for us right now. We also bought one of those sleep wedge things and she seems to ve in LOVE with it...she just kicks back and crashes in it! She slept from 12:00-4:30 (which means she skipped that dreaded 2 am time for us!). We fed at 4:30 and then she slept from 5:00-7:30...just gotta extend this one a little longer!
