NEA Fair

The fair is in town...and usually I do NOT care to go to the fair. But we had to take Essie to get another shot today (they were out of it last week) and she did so good we decided to take her.  She only cried for a second this time!  So we along with my friend Sarah headed to the fair.  It's been raining for like a week straight and the fairgrounds were soppy wet so we had to park waaay far away.  And we had to stroll over bumpy rocks and gravel but Essie didn't mind.

She was so all about watching the people and rides.  She wanted OUT of that stroller pretty quickly so she could see better.  So her daddy carried her around for awhile.

Me and Sarah (we teach first grade together!)

We of course had to indulge in some "fair food" such as funnel cake, corn dogs, nachos, and this yummy roasted corn.  It was so good!  Essie even wanted a bite (of course she didn't get it!)

After walking around for awhile she finally crashed and was out!  I think she had a great first trip to the fair though!

Random Monday...

We've not done much today since it's been a STORMY Monday and we're trying to recover from our trip around Arkansas!  So just a few random things...

I tried working on bow-holders today for Stop, Shop, & Stroll craft fair....

but this cutie would NOT nap today.

Any tips out there on napping?  She will sleep maybe an hour at a time...a few times a day.  Makes for a long stressful day at my house.

Speaking of my house...we're doing some redecorating lately.  We sold our old couches and got this...new sectional that we LOVE.  We also have a leather rocker/recliner on its way.  It was supposed to be here Friday but of course is late.

We also have begun wallpapering our house with pics of our sweetie.

This one hangs above our bed.

This one is in the living room.

Essie's BIG weekend!

Wow...Essie had a BIG weekend planned! First....thank you, thank you to all who voted on which dress she should wear. As you could see...pink ruffly one won by far! And I will say that she looks BEAUTIFUL in it (pictures below). So Friday we ran to get the oil changed in the Jeep and then got ready to head to Pine Bluff to see Essie's Meemaw and Peepaw (Travis' parents) for the first time ever. Essie had to wear her "going to pine bluff' onesie. She looked so cute!

So it normally takes about 3 and a half hours to get there but took us over 4 since we had doggie potty breaks and had to grab some supper. But she was sooooo good and slept the entire time almost! Mommy, Essie and Tucker sat in the back and let Daddy and Maggie have the front. Tucker loves his sister...as you can see.

So we pretty much got there in time for a quick bath, bottle, and bedtime. Her Peepaw couldn't believe how much she had grown...the last time he saw her she was only 2 weeks old!

Saturday was FOOTBALL day. Essie's Aunt Tanya (Travis' sister), (soon to be) Uncle Benny, and (soon to be) cousin Jake all came down from Little Rock. Essie loved watching football with her Uncle Benny...she was quite smitten with him. And she took several naps on her aunt Tanya! We watched 3 football games that day...by the time the Hogs played I was soooo over football. But my girl LOVED it...she couldn't take her eyes off the tv!

That night she got to wear her new "big girl" pajamas that Aunt Tanya gave her awhile back. She looked soooo big!

Sunday morning was church day! Essie got all dressed in her pink ruffly dress...she looks like a doll. She was sooooooooo good during church. I was very nervous about it because she had been quite fussy Saturday. But she pretty much crashed on me and I held her while she slept the whole time. The only time she made a peep was when the organ played the first time...it scared the fire outta her! After the service she got to meet A LOT of Meemaw and Peepaw's friends. She really pulled out the charm for them...grinned the whole time. I was so proud I thought I'd pop.

Then after lunch we packed up to head back home to Jonesboro and after talking to my mom we made a quick, last minute decision to swing by Batesville on the way home. I had a lot of family coming in who we never get to see so we thought it'd be a great time for them to meet Essie. So we detoured and headed to Bville for dinner. She had a great time hanging with her Uncle Andy and Aunt Myra..once again...turned on that charm!

So then we loaded back up again and headed HOME. We pulled in the driveway a little after 10-then it was a quick bath , bottle, bed for my girl. She is worn plum out from all that driving and charming!!!

missing...

Missing...

One RedWolf...taken off our mailbox sometime during the night...if seen please contact us....

No seriously...our RedWolf was stolen off our mailbox last night. Some people who live a street away had theirs stolen too. It's quite disappointing...Howl had been perched atop our mailbox for over a year greeting us each time we came home. He will be missed...

Show us your life...recipes Chicken Crescent Squares

Over at Kelly's Korner this week is a recipe share. I posted this one on my recipe blog a little bit ago...it's one of our favorites!
These are so yummy! Definitely one of Travis' favorites that I make.
You need:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 c cooked chopped or shredded chicken
1/8 tsp pepper
1 TB chives
1 TB chopped pimento (I buy it in a jar-usually found near can veggies I think)
3 TB butter, melted
1/4 tsp. salt
2 TB milk
2 cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
3/4 c. seasoned croutons, crushed
Preheat to 350. In bowl blend cream cheese and about 2 TB melted butter. (save 1 TB for later). Add the chicken, salt, pepper, pimento, chives, & milk. Mix well. Seperate crescent dough into rectangles (by pressing two triangles together in the middle). Spoon mixture in the center of the dough. Pull the four corners of the rectangles up to create a little pouch and seal the edges. Brush with melted butter and dip into croutons crumbs. Bake for 20-25 minutes. (should make 6-8 total)

Blabbermouth

I think I've got quite a talker on my hands! Today Essie spent quite a bit of time in her bouncy seat while I cleaned...she's talked the whole time she was in it! She loves to sit up and watch everything that's going on. She even tries to sit up when she's in the carseat and swing or laying on the bed! HA! :)

The Great Frog-tastrophe of 2009

I have to admit that I have a rediculous, irrational fear.  I am absolutely TERRIFIED of frogs.  I know it's silly and rediculous but I am.  I know they can't harm me but it's the fact that they CAN jump on me that gets me.  I am always on the lookout for them.  Well this morning I decided that Essie and I would venture out and hit up this big consignment sale going on.  And as I opened the door to the garage  to leave...there it was.
Sitting there between me and my freedom.

Yes.  A FROG.  IN my garage!!!
I screamed and shut the door.  What was I going to do?  I mean Essie was already strapped into the carseat...
So I did what any rational girl does. I called my husband (almost in tears) and was describing my big dilemma.  All the while the frog is taunting me sitting between me and the jeep.
What does my husband say to do?
Walk TOWARD it and it will go away.  Are you kidding me?  TOWARD it?  Heck no. Absolutely not. At that point that thing hops on over UNDER my Jeep.  Now I definately cannot leave.  If I go to the jeep it will jump on my foot or worse in my car.  Oh yeah...can't do that!
So I consulted Essie and she completely agreed with me.  We must wait for daddy to come home and get it.
Thankfully it's near his lunch hour so he reluctantly agrees to come on home.

Essie and I sit on the stairs and wait for him. Maggie and Tucker decided to wait with us.

Finally daddy arrived and saved the day...My hero!
Oh and did I mention it was a BABY frog?  yeah...no bigger than a quarter.  But I'm not ashamed.

So we did get to go to the consignment sale...it was a nuthouse!  Packed shoulder to shoulder...a near war-zone.  I found a handful of cutesie things:
