pregnancy pillow

Someone else is in love with my pregnancy pillow! I'm not so much in love with it...rather see it as a necessary item to use. It's bulky & in the way but Tucker sure likes burying himself in it when I'm not using it!

sweetness

On a more positive note...read this sweet letter one of my student's wrote in his journal. I cried when I read it! I LOVE the way he spelled Essie Claire as "S.E. Clare". I also love in the picture he drew one of us with the two dogs and one of us with a baby! Sooo sweet! I color copied it and am having it framed to hang in her room! :)
If you can't make it out it says:
My teacher is having a baby. She showed us two pictures of her baby in her stomach. It's going to be a girl. Her name is going to be Essie Claire. June 30th.

Hospital Trip Part #2

We just got home from our hospital trip #2. Beginning last night I began experiencing alot of lower abdominal/back pain. It came and went today. I talked to my nurse and she recommended that I go in to the hospital if it got worse. Well it did and it looks like I am having kidney stone #2. This one is much, much lower and so the pain is in a different place than before. They hooked me up to the belts to make sure I wasn't having contractions (I wasn't which was great news). Essie kicked the monitors several times...I don't think she liked them very much. They took a urine sample and I had a "major" amount of blood in it. They sent it up to lab to make sure there wasn't any infection...there isn't so they sent me home with some pain meds and instructions to flush it out with lots of water! So I'm playing the waiting game now. I'm in a lot of pain currently and would predict that I will pass it soon, hopefully!

24 Weeks!!!

Essie is about a foot long...close to an ear of corn! I've definitely felt a lot more movement lately. Travis got to feel her again the other night. She moves a lot when we talk to her. We made our 4D Ultrasound appointment for April 3rd...I'm excited but worried they won't be able to get good pictures. The tech told us the other day that my placenta is in a place that may block her from getting a good shot of her. We'll just have to see! We also signed up for Prenatal Classes (gulp!) for the month of May. Neither of us are looking forward to that but know it's necessary. Hopefully we will get her nursery completely painted this week...I'll post pics when we do!

Stripes are done!

Travis finished the stripes today! They look so good! Now we have to paint the bottom cream & hang the chair rail and we'll be done!!! I'm ready to get it all put back so I can see it all put together! It seems like a lot of pink right now but since the bedding has blue in it, it should be okay.

Man-Cake

Tonight I attempted to make a very manly cake for Travis since he's worked so hard painting that pink bedroom. I attempted to make a football cake (can you tell?). It was a disaster. The cake cooked wierd. The outside burned and the middle was raw. But I decided to keep cooking it until the middle was done and just cut out the burned parts. So that's what I did. Then I just reconstructed the ends with icing (yes, one end of this cake is pure icing). I don't expect Ace of Cakes to contact me anytime soon for my decorating skills. But I will say, Travis loved it and said it was delicious. That's what counts right?
P.S. I don't know what is up with this picure. It looks right but when it uploads it tilts. Oh well!

my oh my

Could this be any cuter? We had to pull the first few pieces of tape just to see what it's going to look like. I mean...seriously. LOVE IT! My husband is so talented! One wall down, four more to go... :)

Seeing Stripes!

We've got the first two stripes done. We wanted to do two test stripes first "just in case" we didn't like them. I think it looks really good and will look even better with the bottom painted cream. Travis is NOT enjoying taping stripes...he's an absolute perfectionist so it's very time consuming for him! But I just keep telling him it'll be well worth it in the end when Essie has the perfect nursery! :) Here's a sneak peek at it...I'll post more later!

Blush & Bashful

"My colors are Blush & Bashful". "Your colors are Pink & Pink". Love that quote from "Steel Magnolias" (one of my all-time favs). That quote has run through my mind all evening as we picked out paint colors. We are doing a two-tone pink stripe in Essie Claire's room and I just can't stop saying that in my head! Much to my disappointment I was unable to find paint colors named Blush & Bashful but we did decide on two lovely shades. We are only going to stripe the top half of the walls...the bottom is going to be painted cream and we're hanging a chair rail. I NEVER thought I would be painting a room pink but since we are using the bright blue in her fabric we thought the pink would be best. Here is a pic of the darker of the two pinks...the pictures do it NO justice. It really is pretty. And there is nothing sweeter than my husband painting a PINK room!

We cleared the room, moved the furniture to the middle, drew a chalk line, and Travis had begun painting the first color. That way it can dry overnight so he can tape and paint striped tomorrow. It may seem that we're doing things backward by adding the lighter color on top of the darker. However, we knew the lighter pink would not cover over the brown that was already in there and we HATE to prime. So we're doing things in reverse! I can't wait to see it all put together!
