Today was our first "snow" day of the year. It wasn't really a snow day...mostly an ice day. It looks like snow outside but it's pure ice. There's a thick glaze over everything. Our school Christmas party was cancelled for the second day in a row. It may be rescheduled for later in the week. So I have a kitchen filled with red velvet cupcakes, coffee punch, and wassail. I couldn't wait any longer to make the wassail so Travis and I went ahead and whipped it up. It made the house smell so good and it tastes sooooo amazing on this cold, ice covered day. They've already cancelled school tomorrow as well so I'll have "ice" day number 2 tomorrow!!!

12 Weeks

Finally 12 Weeks! I cannot believe I'm 3 monts along now. Our baby bean is now the size of a large lime. I'm feeling really good now...the exhaustion and nausea are almost completely gone. I went and bought my first pair of maternity jeans. I'm still able to wear normal clothes for now but it won't be long before my old jeans are uncomfortable.

frozen solid

Today was our first bit of winter weather. Of course it's not the pretty stuff-just ice. It started in around 2:15 really coming down so we let school out 30 minutes early. Lucky me had car rider duty this afternoon so I got to stand outside for 45 minutes in the frigid, wet weather. It was so cold the car doors were already freezing shut. By the time we got done my Jeep was frozen solid. I barely got the door open and the ice on the windshield was so thick there was no scraping to it. So I sat in the car while it defrosted for 20 minutes until the ice could be scraped away. I was surprised that when I got home it had apparently snowed out here-the rooftops were white! Here's a pic of my frozen windshield that I snapped while waiting for it to thaw! Also a pic of Maggie who ran right outside but quickly changed her mind once she felt that cold icy patio!

Oh yeah!
We gave in.
This weekend we gave in and let Maggie open her Christmas present early. My parents were down and they wanted to see her open a gift so they talked us into it. Besides, Maggie had already opened several of our other gifts under the tree in utter frustration. So Travis brought in the gift from the garage where it has been hidden-much to Maggie's delight. Never saw a tail wag so fast. She tore right into that box and was so thrilled to find two new squeaky toys for her and a soft fuzzy one for Tucker. She squeaked those toys all night long-much to our delight...:)

Snoop Doggie Dog
Maggie is our lil snoop. She can smell a toy from a mile away. The first Christmas we had her, she found her present under the tree and had it completely unwrapped by the time we got off work. So from now on we don't put her presents under the tree until the day of. We usually don't even bring them into the house. She can smell them even if they are wrapped in a bag, in the top of a closed closet. She will scratch and moan at the door until we have to either give up and give them to her or move them outside. This year, I thought we'd give it another try. So I brought her & Tucker's presents in and wrapped them. I left them in the dining room floor along with several other presents. Of course, Maggie immediately found it and began trying to open it. So while I distracted her (yes, this is necessary) Travis took the gift into the garage and hid it. Since then she has continuously snooped around the house looking for it. She has gone through every present in the house. I've found her under our big tree and our little tree several times today. She sniffs each and every present looking for it. I just hope we don't come home to a house full of opened presents tomorrow!

Dining Room...check!
Our dining room is finally completely decorated! I love the bright colors I used in there...it really doesn't match the rest of the house but whatever. We also put the presents we bought for each other under this tree. All the gifts for friends and family are under the big tree in the living room. In about a week my school is having a progressive dinner/Christmas party. The dessert and gift exchange is going to be at our house so I'm in full gear trying to get things cleaned/decorated. The house has not been really cleaned in about 6 weeks since I've felt so bad. Now that I'm got a little more energy and am feeling a little better, I am trying hard to get it in shape before the 15th when I have a house-full of people! I've still got a lot of work to do!
