mommy and essie day

I spent last night making another dress...this one turned out a little better...it still needs some work but it's doable!

Travis left this morning to go out of town so Essie and I have had a mommy-daughter day! We got up early this morning and headed to my classroom to work some.  We met Sarah up there and didn't end up getting much done because we were chatting so much! Essie was very tired and fell asleep in the reading center:

After a trip to target Essie and I went to lunch together at Heavenly Ham.  We shared a wonderful lunch together and came home to relax.  We did some laundry, dishes, and just played the rest of the day!

Princessie

Whew! Today was my last day of training...I am now a certified Pathwise mentor (which means I will mentor new teachers in my school so that they are ready to take their big Praxis 3 exam!) It was a loooong intense three days and I'm so glad to be done!

Tonight was princess night at chickfila!!! yay! Essie had a great time but was soooo not into the princess cow!  In fact she was TERRIFIED of the cow!

She did looove the princesses and loved making her craft!

Then she got to fingerpaint some canvases this evening to hang on the wall for us! I love the way they turned out!

last year

I was looking at pictures on our computer today and decided to look back at the pics of EClaire at this time last year!

This time last year I was getting my classroom ready with this little one in tow.

We went to dinner for our very first time as a family of three.  We went to Chili's and Essie had a MAJOR diaper blowout!

And I remember so vividly how much fun we had each night when we got home and bathed her and laid in bed just looking at her.  I remember and miss those nights soooo much! That was always my favorite time of day....our routine of bathtime and bedtime.  Oh how I miss her being that small!

And just look at my little baby today....one year later.  She is sooo much fun right now and I still love our night-time routine! We do bathtime and play a little bit and usually read a handful of books over and over.  She like to read the same book over and over...she loves Sandra Boynton books right now and gives me the "more" sign when I'm done. I had inservice again today so Essie and daddy went to the read aloud at chick fila!  Don't ya just love this shirt? a lady does them here in jboro for 8 bucks if you bring in your own shirt! So this personalized one was only 11 bucks!

daddy day...

I was in Pathwise Training all day today (and will be tomorrow and Thursday) so Essie and daddy spent the day together.  He took her to a puppet show at the library and they had a blast! Isn't that so sweet? She is one lucky girl to have such an amazing daddy!  He didn't take many pics but this is what he did take:

This evening I made some spinach artichoke chicken pockets for dinner....very good! And spent the evening playing with my girl and cleaning the house!

a creative fail, dark skies, and one SASSY army!

So last night I got the itch to create...so I dug out some fabric and the sewing machine and went to town making Essie a dress.  Now I've never made a dress before.  And I have no idea HOW to make a dress...I didn't have a pattern...just went with what I wanted to do!  And it was going swimmingly!!! I used some scraps from her bedding and had a vision of a ruffly trimmed dress with cute little straps...and when I was finished it was near midnight and I thought hmmmm....this doesn't look right!

So as soon as Essie woke up I was so excited to try it on her....so Travis and I pulled and tugged it on her...tugged, pulled, tugged some more...and finally it was on....

AND....

This is what it looked like.....

uh, yeah.  Not good.  A BIG fail in fact...it was waaaaay to small...skin tight...the poor baby couldn't even sit down and the straps..oh the straps were all sorts of wrong.  We laughed until we cried...until it hurt!

Then we peeeeeeeeled it off of her and I cut the straps off of it and sewed that darn thing into a pillow.  Oh well...at least I tried! :)

We've been doing absolutely nothing today...just hanging around the house and running a few errands.  Here are a few pics of my girl today...it was so dark outside but we never got much rain from it!

And our little princess loves to hide her pacifiers these days.  We will go days with only one "sassy" cuz that is all we can find.  So we set out on a mission to find those darn things today and keep them in one location.  We were able to locate a small army of sassies but not all of them yet! ha!

blue jean queen...

I've had this little dress in my "baby closet" for over 5 years now.  I bought it at old navy for 99 cents all those years ago.  I had bought a bunch of stuff for my niece Haley and she had already outgrown this so I kept it...
Saturday morning we took the dogs to get groomed and ran a few errands.  We also stopped by my classroom to drop of a bunch of stuff.  Essie found a cheetoh on the floor that was left there by one of the kiddos the other day.  I had to dig it out of her mouth and she threw one heck of a fit so her daddy went down to the vending machine and got her a bag...and she sat at the table like such a big girl! I just wanted to cry she looked so big!
